About
Pendrane is a multiplayer ASCII roguelike set in a world called Annwn — one shared, persistent valley where the simulation keeps running whether you are there or not.
It is built around a simple conviction: that a body is more interesting than a health bar. Creatures in Annwn have anatomies. Wounds are placed, they bleed, they close or they fester. Medicine is herbs and judgement, not potions. Death is somebody's fault, usually yours.
The name
The game is deployed as Pendrane; Annwn is the name of the world in-fiction — the otherworld of Welsh myth, which felt right for a place you fall into through a terminal window.
The look
Everything is glyphs. The website you are reading is drawn in the same palette as the game, because the portal should look like the game leaking out of the screen. Saturated colour is reserved for blood, fire, and the otherworld; everything else earns its place in grey and bone.
The maker
Pendrane is made by simaker. If you find a bug, or a boar finds you, the blog has the ways to tell us.
